Sweepstake
App
A goalscorer sweepstake gives everyone in your group a random player from a match's starting lineup, and the winner is whoever's player scores. SquadGames runs three formats for free on Premier League matches: first, next and last goal scorer. Players are drawn automatically at kick-off, strikers first, so the draw stays fair.
The Three Goalscorer Sweepstake Formats
| Mode | How it works | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| First Goal Scorer (FGS) | One draw at kick-off. Whoever's player scores the first goal wins. | Quick, simple sweeps |
| Next Goal Scorer (NGS) | A winner is declared for every goal scored. You can win several rounds. | High-scoring games |
| Last Goal Scorer (LGS) | Only the final goal matters. The leader changes with every goal. | Late drama, anyone can win until full time |
Single Draw or Redraw
For Next and Last Goal Scorer you also choose how players are assigned:
- Single draw — everyone is drawn a player once at kick-off and keeps them all game. Closest to a traditional sweepstake.
- Redraw — players are redrawn before each goal counts. More chaos, more comebacks, and anyone can win at any moment.
Is the Draw Fair?
Everyone is drawn automatically from the starting lineup at kick-off, so nobody can pick their player or see the draw coming. The draw hands out strikers first, so one person does not end up with all the likely scorers. Your sweepstake can also include a No Goalscorer slot for the quiet players, which keeps things honest for matches that end 0-0.
A Worked Example
Take a 3-0 game where Kane scores first, Bellingham second and Watkins third in injury time:
- First Goal Scorer: whoever drew Kane wins, and the rest of the game does not change the result.
- Next Goal Scorer: three winners, one for each goal.
- Last Goal Scorer: whoever drew Watkins wins, and the person leading until stoppage time loses out.
